The Claypan Target, located in the northern part of the project, was previously explored for base metals during the 1960's and 1970's. Very little previous gold exploration has been conducted in the Claypan area. More recent exploration shows this to be a viable target.
The Claypan Target lies in the north of ICENI’s tenure, beneath extensive regolith cover. The underlying geology comprises felsic volcanics with undifferentiated greenstone sequences occurring along the southwestern and eastern edges. An interpreted magnetic intrusion occurs on the eastern contact between felsic volcanics and greenstones.
The Claypan Target lies over outcropping, erosional soils (dark green), areas of residual in situ cover (light green) and sheetwash, colluvium and channels (yellows).
